Interprofessional training funds, established by Law 388/2000, finance the continuing training of employees. Since 2003 every company can ask INPS to allocate to a fund the 0.30% of mandatory unemployment contributions it already pays.
Joining is free and voluntary and does not change the contributions paid: the company only chooses where they go. A company can belong to only one fund at a time, regardless of sector or trade association.
Under Legislative Decree 150/2015 the funds are part of the national network of labour-policy services.
